Meals in China
- Meals are an important part of relationship development in China
- Let the host direct you to your seat at the table
- You don’t have to push your business agenda at the meal, follow your hosts lead
- If asked, be prepared to tell the host a Chinese dish you like, suggestions are:
- Dumplings: ‘xioa lung boa’ in Shanghai, ‘sweijiao’ in Beijing
- Toufu: pronounced ‘doufu’ in Chinese, and doufu is served in many different ways
- Hot and Sour Soup: Chinese love soup and they’re not always sure if Americans like it
